OLTL's Starr Goes On The Run
May 4th, 2004
This week, Starr sneaks off to meet Travis, her Internet buddy, while she
and Blair are vacationing in New York City. Needless to say, Starr gets in
over her head -- and into a boatload of trouble. "Usually, Starr has been
trying to get her mom and dad back together, but this time, she's thinking
more of herself," explains portrayer Kristen Alderson. "She's like, 'I need
a break from this; I need to get out of here.'" So, Starr leaves with Travis,
whom she believes is her soul mate; her plans change when her money is taken
by an older man.
Twelve-year-old Alderson is thrilled to be a part of a more "adult" storyline,
especially because this one was shot on-location in Central Park. "It was
beautiful!" she raves. "I don't get to go there very often. It was so much
fun." The actress also got to experience her -- and Starr's -- first kiss.
"It was funny!" she giggles. "All the cameramen were watching me. And Connor
[Paolo, Travis] was making fun me me, saying, 'You're having your first kiss
on national TV.' I was like, 'Shut up!'"
Alderson hopes that viewers understand Starr's decision to run off. "Her
parents have messed up," she notes. "Starr can be mean, but I feel bad for
her. This isn't her fault."
Still, by the end of the week, her bad judgement lands her in a stick situation.
"If I were Starr, I'd be pretty scared right now!" Alderson says.
