OLTL's Cautionary Tale
April 16th, 2004

It's a story that parents should watch with their children. This week on One Life to Live, preteen Starr Manning meets with an older boy she has been chatting with online. "Her life is so messed up at home, she just needs to get away and she's finally found someone who understands her," says Starr's portrayer, Kristen Alderson. With New York City's Central Park as their backdrop, Starr comes face-to-face with 15-year-old Travis. "He's not too pleased with Starr; she sent him the wrong the picture. A whole bunch of things happen after that." OLTL is consciously weaving a cautionary tale about the good and evil of the Internet, a lesson that's not lost on its young cast member. "A lot of danger can come when you go off and meet with someone you have no clue [about]," Alderson advises. "You really shouldn't take that chance."
